China Peoples Association with Foreign Countries
The Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) is one of the earliest national people’s organizations engaged in people-to-people diplomacy of the People’s Republic of China. With the purposes of enhancing people’s friendship, furthering international cooperation, safeguarding world peace and promoting common development, and on behalf of the Chinese people, the CPAFFC makes friends with foreign countries widely and closely on the international arena. It serves the great cause of China’s peaceful development and peaceful reunification and strive for the solidarity and progress of all mankind.
The state relations rely on the people’s friendship. The understanding and friendship between peoples are the foundation of countries’ relationship. Since its establishment in 1954, the CPAFFC has worked hard to the implementation of China’s independent policy of peace, observing the Five Principles of peaceful coexistence. It serves as a bridge under the support and concern of the Chinese government and all sectors of society in China and abroad. It carries out people-to-people friendship work in an all-round, multi-level and wide-range way which enhances understanding, develops friendship, strengthens cooperation between countries. It works hard to lay a solid foundation of friendship between China and other countries and plays an active role in the building of a harmonious world of lasting peace and common prosperity.
United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation
In 1945, United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultura Organisation (UNESCO) was created in order to respond to the firm belief of nations, forged by two world wars in less than a generation, that political and economic agreements are not enough to build a lasting peace. Peace must be established on the basis of humanity’s moral and intellectual solidarity. UNESCO strives to build networks among nations that enable this kind of solidarity. In an unstable world – marked by fledgling democratic movements, the emergence of new economic powers and societies weakened by multiple stress factors – the educational, scientific and cultural fabric of societies – along with respect for fundamental rights – guarantees their resilience and stability. At a time when the world is looking for new ways to build peace and sustainable development, people must rely on the power of intelligence to innovate, expand their horizons and sustain the hope of a new humanism. UNESCO exists to bring this creative intelligence to life; for it is in the minds of men and women that the defences of peace and the conditions for sustainable development must be built.
